UPDATE TIME

Friends,

I am sorry that I forget to write on my blog. I actually have a fair amount of news:

Our Interfaith Community For Middle East Peace became real in May 2009 by bringing Rabbi Menachem Froman from Tekoa and Sheikh Ghassan Manasra from Nazereth and organizing a Conference on The Role of Faith in Middle East Peace at Temple University with the Dialogue Institute as our Co-Sponsor. We managed to set up meetings for our visiting peacemakers at the State Department on May 1st and in the office of NJ Congressman Rush Holt on May 5th with representatives from PA Senator Bob Casey and a number of Middle East peace organizations in the room. We met in June to begin to review what we had accomplished, what we hadn't and what comes next.... It was a pretty intense period of work in which a few members of our evolving organization managed to put together additional speaking engagements for our Sheikh who ultimately managed on his own to get a meeting in the White House.
So we will work to open a dialogue in the Philadelphia area involving the three Abrahamic faiths as well as others to promote understanding between them and cooperation in working toward lasting peace in the Holy Land.

Blessings,

Larry Snider

Hello Again

Dear Old and New Friends,

I've been away from my blog for quite a while.
I coordinated the Delaware Valley Interfaith Delegation to Israel/Palestine in March of 2008 and since our return the Muslim, Christian and Jewish members of our delegation have spoken to over sixty audiences sharing stories of all we heard on our Compasssionate Listening journey which was lead by Leah Green and Maha El-Taji. We are evolving into a new organization; the Interfaith Community for Middle East Peace and we plan to continue to bring the Children of Abraham together here in the United Stated as well as in Israel/Palestine to learn more about each other and to work collectively to promote Middle East Peace. It is a challenging time with all the death and destruction in Gaza, the rocket fire that is still entering the Negev, the reality of a new President and the coming reality of a new Israeli Prime Minister this week. There is much opportunity and many issues to face resolutely and overcome to move forward toward a viable two-state solution. I look forward to sending you announcements, stories from Israel, the West Bank, Gaza and even here in America. We are growing a new organization with a commitment to enhance understanding between the faiths and a shared focus on Middle East Peace. I will send you more information in the weeks ahead.

Shalom-Salaam-Peace,

Larry Snider
